Keynote Highlights: Healing Justice in Action

"Empowered Advocates: Radical Self-Care for the Social Justice Worker"

A galvanizing call to reclaim rest as resistance, this keynote dismantled the myth of "burnout as a badge of honor." Through interactive somatic exercises and Black feminist praxis, participants explored:

  • Embodied boundary-setting for high-stakes environments

  • Subversive joy practices to counter oppression fatigue

  • Peer-led accountability structures to sustain movements

In the summer of 2021, I delivered two virtual keynote addresses for 300-500 social service advocates across New Mexico, equipping frontline change-makers with tools to sustain their work through trauma-informed care and compassionate communication. These workshops epitomize the healing justice framework I bring to spaces like the Local Progress National Convening—where systemic transformation begins with nurturing the nurturers.

"Mouth Peace: Nonviolent Communication as Community Care"

This session reimagined conflict resolution through an anti-oppression lens, offering:

  • Liberatory language frameworks to de-escalate trauma responses

  • Role-playing scenarios for difficult conversations in coalition spaces

  • "Micro-repair" techniques to strengthen organizational trust

Impact & Validation

  • 82% satisfaction rate in post-event surveys (excerpts included)

  • 95% reported a plan for immediate application of tools in their advocacy work

"Ebony’s keynotes didn’t just teach—they transformed how we show up for ourselves and our communities."
